🍇 The oxo grape cutter! I saw it all over IG and just didn't see the point of it. Who needs one more kitchen tool?!?

But then it was summer and I was cutting grapes every day for my youngest. I saw it was randomly on sale so I grabbed it and boy was I wrong 🤣

I don't know why I waited until my third to buy this but at least I have it now!

🛑 Stop giving your kids a bunch of breakfast choices in the morning and give them this choice instead...

I know this completely goes against what many parenting experts may tell you but hear me out. 😜

When you give your kids a bunch of choices for breakfast, it doesn't help them feel in control over breakfast but rather overwhelmed. They are just waking up and the countdown to getting out the door starts... mornings are stressful no matter what so let's make the choices BEFORE the morning of. 😖

Which is why we do overnight oats for breakfast every weekday. We ask the kids what kind of oats they want (PB&J, strawberries, chunky monkey- we've got like 12 different options!) and we prep it for them the night before. Takes less than 5 minutes to make 2 containers (they split one, so it will last us 2 days) 🥣

In the morning all I have to do is dump it into 2 bowls and done! We love using onedegreeorganics oats, flax, chia seeds and add a scoop of nurishedco kids mighty milk powder for a little extra boost of protein and super greens 💪🏻 it keeps our kids full and ready for the day without me being a short order cook. 👩🏼‍🍳

This isn't a daily or weekly occurrence but it definitely happens more with my third. I mean she's gotta eat right? This was taken a few months ago and she has had plenty of meals out and about since. At the pool, playground, in the car, etc. I even have a bentgo lunch box for her that we use multiple times a week. She just goes with the flow 🌊

It makes the biggest difference! Whether you prep it on the weekend (like I do!), or the night before, or even in the morning when you're making your kids lunch, seriously prep your lunch ahead of time! I was going from breakfast to dinner and realizing oh crap I never ate lunch way too often. So meal prepping on Sundays (or sometimes Monday if we have a busy weekend) helps me remember to actually eat lunch.

The other tip is to eat the same thing for lunch all week long. Yeah sure sometimes by Friday I start to get a little sick of it, but it helps me stay on track with tracking my macros, and making sure I'm fueling my body and not getting hangry by 2pm. I prep it once and I'm good for the week.

Some of my go to lunches are:
🥣 Chicken Bowls- grilled chicken, rice, and then we either make it Mexican, BBQ, or Greek- this one was a BBQ bowl
🥙Pita or Wrap- grilled chicken, some salad, and then we do buffalo (so good if you air fry it a bit), or another dressing. I just heat up the filling and then wrap it in a pita or tortilla.
🥗 Salad- grilled chicken, salad, and then either a summer fruit one with berries, walnuts, goat cheese, and balsamic or something like a ceasar or Greek.

When you plan ahead (especially meals!!!) it helps you eat out less and actually eat the food you buy from the grocery store.

As toddler moms (especially SAHMs who are with them all day long) it's crazy to expect us to sit and play with our kids all day long. I don't love to pretend play and that's okay. I still do sometimes of course, but rather than feeling pressured that I HAVE to be playing with my kids 24/7, I find things that I like to do that I can involving them.

Like going on a walk outside, trips to the pool or library, and even walking around target.

I enjoy doing puzzles, magnatiles or legos, putting a yoga video on, or having a dance party.

Baking is another activity that I like to do with my toddlers- although sometimes it gets a little stressful or messy, it's a great bonding activity not to mention the real life lessons like measuring and counting involved.

Sometimes we just need the reminder that it's okay to not sit and play pretend, or do a quick chore while kids are playing independently. I know I feel guilty sometimes that I should play more. But I remember all the other fun activities we do together and I know that's the memories my kids will remember.

I spotted this new toy line at Target and immediately loved it. It's very Melissa and Doug meets Lovevery toys (with a lower price point! 🙌🏻) As a former Kindergarten teacher and mom to 3, these toys check off all my requirements for an engaging toy for little ones:
