What in the world are Boom cards?
Boom cards are self-checking, digital task cards that seemed to be everywhere this spring! With the quick transition into distance learning this past March, many teachers turned to this platform for easy, yet meaningful independent practice for their students. Plus, I've compiled a list of amazing free boom cards for you to try!
Parents absolutely love them because it is an activity that their kids can do independently. As a teacher, you are able to see how they do on each set (for a small yearly fee) to help track data. There is also a free version you can use if you do not need the data and just want the extra practice for your students.
You can assign these to students in Google classroom or Seesaw, making it versatile no matter what platform you use.
Your questions about Boom Cards….answered!
I’ve compiled some FAQ’s that I’ve been getting to answer them all in one place.
Q: Can you use these with Seesaw, Google Classroom, etc?
A: YES! Anywhere you can add a link, you can use these.
Click here to watch a video tutorial for using with Google Classroom.
Q: Do you need an app?
A: Nope, just a device with an internet connection. There is an app available though for both Apple and Android
Q: Do you have to sign up for an account?
A: Yes, but it is free if you just use Fast Play (where you copy and paste the link for students to play). If you want to pay, you have access to more features, like data and tracking.
Q: Do you have to make accounts for your students?
A: If you want to track data (how many they get wrong vs right, how long it takes them, etc), then yes you will. But for Kindergarten, I honestly think that the extra practice is PLENTY!
Q: Okay, but won’t this overwhelm the parents?
A: Nope, in fact parents are asking for MORE Boom Card activities, because they can just hand their kids the iPad and the kids can do it independently. Seriously, I’ve had many teachers who were unsure, message me again asking to make more Boom Card sets because their student’s parents LOVED them!
