Are your students practicing CVC words? I love using a variety of activities to practice CVC words as a lesson follow up activity. Hereβs three activity ideas that your students can practice during centers!
Fine Motor Center: Cut and Paste Picture Match
This activity can be completed independently or during centers. Using scissors is a great way to build those fine motor skills. When you incorporate a variety of tools, it makes a worksheet more engaging. For this cut and paste picture match, students will read the word, find the picture and glue it next to the matching word.
Teamwork Center: Matching Game
This center is best used with at least 2 students, but works with up to 6 students. Place all words upside down and spread them out. Place the picture cards in an anchor chart or face-up on the floor. The first student picks up two cards, reads the word and looks for the matching picture. They place the word on top of the picture card. Continue taking turns until all cards have been matched.
Independent Work Center: Color by Code
This activity can be completed independently or used as morning work or early finisher work. Students will read each word, then color it with the same color next to the matching picture. Try out a FREE sample of the color by code here!
