The week before Thanksgiving break is sooo real. The kids are counting down the days and talking about pie at 8:15 in the morning, while you’re trying to squeeze in actual learning AND figure out what you’re bringing to dinner. I remember standing at the copier wishing someone would just hand me a stack of pages that were ready to go… so that’s what I put together for you.
These no prep Thanksgiving activities for kindergarten are the ones I’d reach for during that crazy stretch. Every single one is print and go (or grab something you already have in your room and go). No laminating and no cutting out 22 little sets of cards the night before. You just print and pass it out, and the kids are practicing real skills while they’re excited about turkeys. That’s it!

I included 10 activities from my Thanksgiving No Prep Activity Pack plus 2 bonus ideas that need nothing but a bag of snacks and your voice. And if you keep reading, I have free Thanksgiving fine motor pages for you at the bottom.
No Prep Thanksgiving Math Activities for Kindergarten
1. Find, Color, and Graph It

Kids hunt for the Thanksgiving pictures (pie, corn, wishbones, pumpkins, a turkey, and a table), color each kind the same color. Then they graph how many they found. The questions at the bottom are where the real math talk happens… “Which one has the LEAST?” and “Which two have the SAME number?” I love doing this one whole group first and then letting them try it on their own.
2. Addition to 10 Color by Code

There are 2 pictures in this one, a turkey and a cornucopia, and both practice addition facts to 10. Kids solve each problem and color by the sum. Hand out the turkey first and keep the cornucopia in your early finisher bin, because these always go faster than you think they will.
3. Cut and Paste Numbers 11-20

Teen numbers are tricky! Kids count each set of Thanksgiving foods and glue the matching pumpkin number next to it. It’s super easy to see who’s counting one-to-one and who’s just guessing.

4. Mix-and-Fix Sentence Scramble

Kids cut out the scrambled words, put them in order, glue them down, and then write the sentence underneath. Each sentence has a little picture on the word cards so the pieces don’t get mixed up (because you KNOW they will). It’s a great sneaky review of capital letters at the beginning and periods at the end.
5. How to Cook a Turkey

This is hands down my favorite Thanksgiving writing activity. Kids use First, Next, Then, and Last to explain how to cook a turkey and draw a picture for each step. Their answers are hilarious… I’m talking “put it in the oven for 100 hours” kind of hilarious. There’s a version with dotted lines and a version with plain lines, so you can pick what fits your writers.
6. Would You Rather Eat?

Stuffing or rolls? Mashed potatoes or green beans? Kids color their pick and write why. This one is perfect for opinion writing, and there’s a version with “I would rather” and “because” already traced for kids who need that support.
Thanksgiving Phonics and Reading Activities
7. Word Family Color by Code

Kids figure out the word family for each picture (-am, -at, -ig, -op, and more) and color it using the key. When they’re done, a Thanksgiving picture shows up, and they get SO excited when it does. There are 2 pages with different word families.
8. CVC Word Matching

Kids read the CVC words at the bottom (jam, pot, hug, nap…) and glue each one under the matching picture. It’s quick and it’s a great check to see who’s actually blending.
9. Tom Helps Mom Reading Passage

This decodable passage is all about Tom helping his mom get ready for a Thanksgiving meal. Kids highlight the -ot words and read the story 3 times (coloring a turkey each time). Then they answer the questions by finding and underlining the answer in the text. It’s real reading practice that still feels festive.

10. What’s on My Plate

Kids cut out the Thanksgiving foods and glue what they’d want to eat on their plate. It’s scissor practice that doesn’t feel like scissor practice, and it’s fun to see who skips the green beans. This one is in the free fine motor pages at the bottom of this post, so keep scrolling!
2 Bonus No Prep Thanksgiving Ideas
11. Turkey Trail Mix Sort and Graph

This is the easiest Thanksgiving snack ever. Grab a big bag of pretzels, Cheerios, raisins, popcorn, and candy corn (or whatever is nut-free and fits your class allergies), mix it in a bowl, and give each kid a scoop on a paper towel. Before anyone eats, they sort the pieces into piles and count them. Then ask which pile has the most and which has the least… it’s the graphing page all over again, but with snacks. The only prep is pouring!
12. Turkey Says

It’s Simon Says, but the turkey is in charge. “Turkey says gobble 3 times.” “Turkey says waddle in place.” “Turkey says strut around like you own the farm.” “Flap your wings!” (and anyone who flapped is out). If you want to sneak in phonics, try “Turkey says hop if the word starts with /t/” and call out turkey, pie, table, or tail. It’s perfect for that 2:30 slump when everyone is wiggly and you have zero energy left to plan a brain break.
