How to Create a Memorable 100th Day of Kindergarten with No Prep Activities

The 100th day of school in Kindergarten is such an exciting milestone for both students and teachers. It’s a day to celebrate all the growth and learning that’s happened over the year while making lasting memories with your class. But let’s be honest—planning an entire day of themed activities can feel overwhelming, especially when time is tight. That’s why I’m here to share a simple, stress-free way to plan your 100th day of Kindergarten activities in just minutes!

The Secret: All-Day Centers with Whole Group Activities Sprinkled In

One of the easiest ways to handle the 100th day of school without losing your mind is by setting up all-day centers. Trust me, centers are a game-changer. They keep your students busy and engaged while rotating through hands-on activities that focus on key skills like math, phonics, writing, and fine motor practice. Plus, they’re a lifesaver when you’re trying to keep things running smoothly on a special day like this.

Here’s why all-day centers are perfect: they’re structured but flexible. Your kids know what to expect, transitions are smoother, and you don’t have to constantly reset the classroom or come up with new instructions. It also gives you some breathing room to focus on small groups or just enjoy the day without feeling like you’re putting out fires left and right.

And the best part? Centers make it easy to tailor activities for different skill levels. Got some kiddos who are ready for a challenge? No problem—you can give them a tougher math game. Have a few students who need more practice with basic skills? Boom, there’s an activity for them too. It’s like having a magic wand to keep everyone engaged and learning at their own pace.

Using centers also saves you a ton of time—both before and during the big day. You can prep everything ahead of time, set it up in the morning, and let the day practically run itself. No more running around like crazy trying to manage elaborate activities. Your students rotate through the centers, you get to oversee and interact with them, and everyone has a blast. It’s seriously the easiest way to turn what could be a chaotic day into one that’s fun and manageable.

Sample Schedule for the 100th Day of School in Kindergarten Activities

Here’s a simple schedule you can follow to create a memorable, low-stress day using some of my favorite no-prep 100th day activities:

8:00 – 8:30 AM | Morning Kickoff: 100th Day Headband or Coloring Page

Start the day with a super easy activity like creating their 100th day headband or even just a simple coloring page! You want to have an activity ready at their seats when they come in that you don't have to explain.

8:30 – 9:30 AM | Phonics Centers

Set up a few phonics-focused centers like:

  • Roll and Read: Use a Roll and Read to 100 to practice CVC words, digraphs, or long vowels. Students roll a die, count the spaces, then read the word they land on. They can play this independently or with a partner.
  • Mystery Jokes: Students solve riddles by identifying the beginning sounds in a word and writing their answers below.
  • ONE HUNDRED: Using the words “One Hundred” have students think of a word that starts with each letter.

9:30 – 10:00 AM | Whole Group Movement Break: 100 Exercises Challenge

Get the wiggles out with a movement activity where students complete 10 sets of 10 exercises. These can include jumping jacks, toe touches, and hopping in place. There is also a fun 100th day exercise video that is a fun brain break found here: Count to 100 with Jack Hartmann

10:00 – 11:00 AM | Math Centers

Rotate through math activities that include:

  • Fill the 100s Chart: Give students a hundreds chart with 10-20 numbers missing or covered. Then students will fill in the numbers.
  • Race to 100 Game: Use dice and printable hundreds chart. Students will roll a dice and count that many squares on the hundreds chart. Continue playing until someone reaches 100!
  • Skip Counting Cut and Paste: Cut out numbers and order them from 10-100 or 5-100.

11:00 – 11:30 AM | Art Project: 100th Day Paper Chain

Let students work together to create a giant 100-link paper chain. Each student contributes a few links, and as a class, you can count them as they’re added until you have 100 links. It’s a great way to build teamwork while incorporating fine motor skills.

12:30 – 1:30 PM | Writing and Fine Motor Centers

Set up writing and fine motor centers for students to rotate through. These centers provide a mix of creative expression and hands-on fine motor practice, helping students develop essential skills while having fun. Include activities like:

  • Pick a Writing Prompt:
    • When I’m 100 Years Old… Students write about what their life will be like when they’re 100 years old and illustrate it.
    • If I Had $100… Students will imagine what they would do if they had $100. Would they spend it all in one place? Or buy 100 ice cream cones?
  • Gumball Dab Activity: Students use dot markers to fill in 100 gumballs on a printable page. (Grab this fun activity as a freebie below!)
  • Sticker or Stamp to 100: Give students stickers or stamps and have them count to 100 as they put 100 stickers or stamp 100 times on a piece of paper.

1:30 – 2:00 PM | Whole Group Directed Drawing

Directed drawings are one of my favorite activities to do on special days, because students just love doing them (and I love seeing how they turn out) For the 100th day, they can draw what they think they’ll look like at 100 years old. Art for Kids Hub on Youtube has a great directed drawing for either a grandma or grandpa you could use to help your students draw.

1:30 – 1:45 PM | Whole Group Activity: Silly Stories

Gather the class for a shared laughter-filled activity! Use fill-in-the-blank silly stories centered on the 100th day of school to spark creativity and engagement. Ask for words like colors, numbers, things, silly words, etc. to fill in each blank, then read aloud. You could also have students do this with partners or if you have adult helpers they can do it with a smaller group. This is a great way to transition from centers to the next activity.

1:45 – 2:15 PM | Snack Activity: Create Your Own Trail Mix

Make snack time an interactive learning experience! Give each student a snack mat with ten frames and provide a variety of snacks like pretzels, cereal, or mini marshmallows. Students count out 10 pieces of each snack to create their own trail mix, practicing counting to 100 while enjoying a delicious treat. This was always one of my favorite 100th day of kindergarten activities to do with my students!
